Helldivers 2 update 7.2.0 brings Easy Anti-Cheat and changes more than the new sniper kit
Scope of Authority arrives alongside faster Sickle response and a PLAS-39 adjustment that explains why less stagger can help precision.
Helldivers 2 has received its 7.2.0 update on 20 October, introducing Easy Anti-Cheat alongside the Scope of Authority Premium Warbond and a broad equipment balance pass. The new precision weapons are the most visible addition, but returning players also have a reason to revisit familiar loadouts.
Arrowhead’s current patch notes separate the new content from changes to existing weapons, stratagems and rendering. That distinction matters for anyone deciding whether to buy the Warbond: downloading the update and unlocking its premium equipment are different actions.
A precision loadout has to survive the distance closing
The Warbond announcement pairs the R-40 Sightliner bolt-action primary rifle with the P-44 Mist machine pistol. It also introduces the backpack-fed AMW-20 Apex anti-materiel rifle, which supports assisted reloading, and the LAS-44 Nova, an energy weapon with a charge cycle and a non-explosive thermal projectile.
The roles suggest a more useful way to read the collection than treating every item as another damage upgrade. A precise primary weapon addresses a target at distance; a compact automatic sidearm addresses what happens when that distance disappears. Assisted reloading introduces a team interaction rather than merely changing the person holding the trigger.
The two new armour sets share Stationary Shroud, described as reducing weapon sway and detection range while crouched or prone. Reduced detection is not a guarantee that enemies cannot find the player. Its conditions also matter: a benefit tied to a posture is a reason to think about positioning, rather than assume that the same protection follows every movement.
The old weapons are part of today’s news
Arrowhead lowers the LAS-16 Sickle’s delay between pressing the trigger and firing from 0.5 seconds to 0.33 seconds. The notes also reduce the delay before cooling begins. These changes concern the rhythm of using the weapon: how quickly an intention becomes a shot, and how the pause after a burst behaves.
The PLAS-39 Accelerator Rifle receives a faster reload, from 3.3 to 2.7 seconds, and reduced stagger strength. Arrowhead explains that staggering a target could move a weak point away from subsequent shots. That is a useful example of a statistic becoming smaller for a practical reason: more disruption is not automatically more useful when precision depends on the target remaining where the next shot will land.
Those figures describe the developer’s changes, not measured performance from our own play sessions. They are enough to show why the patch should be read as more than a shop refresh. The balance pass changes the baseline against which the new equipment will be judged.
Performance claims and purchase conditions stay separate
The update notes include CPU and particle-processing work, reduced shader-compilation hitching on PC, and fixes involving dynamic resolution and upscaling. These are developer-reported improvements, not a universal frame-rate promise. Different hardware and scenes can expose different limits, and the notes do not supply a single comparable performance gain for every platform.
Easy Anti-Cheat is also listed as implemented. That establishes a change in the protection system; it does not by itself prove a measured reduction in cheating or establish how every player’s setup will respond.
For players in Italy as elsewhere, the Premium Warbond requires the base game, Super Credits and progression to unlock its content. The announcement does not make it a free entitlement for everyone installing 7.2.0. Anyone returning to cooperative gaming can first reassess the equipment already available to their squad. A rifle that starts firing sooner, or keeps a weak point in place for the next shot, may change an evening’s play before a new item is bought.
