Your privacy.
How GeekRadar handles your information.
Accounts
If you have a GeekRadar account, your name, email address, language preference and sign-in information are used to provide access to it. Your password is protected and is not stored as plain text. Email verification confirms that the address belongs to you.
Contact messages
The contact form stores your name, email, selected topic and message so GeekRadar can respond to your request. Do not include passwords, payment information or other sensitive details.
Browser storage
An essential session cookie supports sign-in and form security. A language cookie remembers your edition. Local storage remembers the chosen light or dark appearance. These controls do not require third-party analytics.
External images
Some news images may load from an external publisher or image host. When your browser loads one of these images, that provider receives connection information such as your IP address.
Requests
To ask about your information or request access, correction or deletion, contact GeekRadar and select the Privacy topic.
Article readership
GeekRadar uses aggregate article-read counts to help choose homepage stories. A read is counted after an article stays visible for eight seconds. The existing session prevents repeat counts for the same article within 24 hours; these counts do not store your name, email or IP address, and no third-party analytics service receives them. Daily totals older than 35 days are removed when new reads are processed. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control preferences disable this counting.
Cookies and your choices
Essential cookies support security, language and saved privacy choices. Your cookie choices are remembered for six months. Optional measurement is disabled until you accept it. Closing the cookie panel keeps optional measurement off for a new visitor. You can change your choices at any time below or from the footer. Accepting optional site measurement does not authorize advertising cookies.
Google advertising
We load Google AdSense with ad personalization disabled. Google processes technical information, including IP addresses, to deliver ads. Where eligible, Google may serve limited ads without advertising consent; these can still use cookies or local storage to prevent fraud. Non-personalized ads are not necessarily cookie-free. Ad availability and the serving mode depend on Google, location and applicable consent signals. Our measurement preferences do not grant Google advertising consent. How Google uses information.
Audience statistics
Basic first-party statistics count successful page requests, approximate countries and broad device types by day. They run by default without analytics cookies, visitor IDs, session histories or cross-site tracking. Reloads count as requests: these totals are not unique people. No query strings, search terms or build configurations are recorded. You may object by turning off Basic statistics in Cookie preferences. We also honor Do Not Track, Global Privacy Control and earlier analytics objections.
Your IP address is used transiently for a local country lookup, then discarded by analytics. It is not saved in our analytics database or sent to a geolocation service. Country estimates can be inaccurate. Basic counters are stored only as separate daily totals, not individual events, and retained for up to three years. They are not linked to accounts or shared with advertising providers.
If you accept Detailed measurement, short-lived identifiers also estimate daily visitors, visits, entry pages, referring domains and active viewing time. Hidden tabs and time after a minute without interaction are excluded. These visit records are retained for seven calendar days; aggregate totals for up to three years. Withdrawal stops new detailed collection without removing earlier totals. These measurements and hosting security logs are separate.
Basic statistics also distinguish pages visibly opened in a browser from pages with a click, tap or key press, and count referring domains without their paths or search terms. These are activity estimates, not unique visitors or proof of a human visit. A random, page-specific receipt prevents duplicate counts for up to four hours; it does not link different pages or identify a visitor. No extra analytics cookie or browser fingerprint is created. Turning off Basic statistics stops these signals too.

Reader accounts
When you create an account, we store your username, email address, password hash and profile details. An avatar is optional. Your account and followed topics are shared across GeekRadar editions. You can unfollow topics from your account; following does not enable email subscriptions. Essential session cookies keep you signed in; verification and recovery emails protect access to your account. Contact us to request account deletion.
PC Builder keeps guest builds in this browser. When signed in, your saved builds, component favorites and price targets are stored with your account. A browser copy keeps pending changes until they can sync. You can delete builds from your library; deleting your account also removes its saved builds.
Account forms use hCaptcha to prevent abuse. hCaptcha receives security information, including your IP address and browser information. Temporary abuse-prevention counters use hashed identifiers and expire automatically. Account pages do not run ads or audience measurement. hCaptcha Privacy.
