SCUM’s hotfix makes vehicle damage respect the server’s zone rules
The October 30 repair also gives vanished trader quests a defined return condition and fixes invisible collision.
SCUM’s latest hotfix repairs a mismatch between server rules and what happened to vehicles: collisions could still cause damage even when the corresponding zone settings were set to Block. The October 30 update also addresses disappearing trader quests and several interaction and collision problems introduced or exposed around the Halloween update.
The official notes for 1.3.5.2.172724+172352 make this a targeted repair release. It is not another announcement of the earlier official-server merges or partial wipe. Those belong to the preceding update and should not be inferred again from the arrival of this hotfix.
A zone rule has to be enforceable
The vehicle fix concerns impacts with other vehicles and environmental objects under the affected zone settings. It does not announce the removal of collision damage everywhere. A server’s configured rule remains the starting point; the repair is meant to make the game respect that rule.
For a community server, this distinction goes beyond the condition of one car. Players make decisions based on the protections and risks administrators have configured. If the simulation contradicts those settings, a dispute can look like a misunderstanding of the rules when it is actually a software fault. A patch that restores consistency helps both the person driving and the person administering the server.
The notes also fix a missing Sit prompt on one side of train seats, even though sitting was still possible. That is a different kind of failure: the action existed, but the interface did not advertise it properly. Treating both as the same “interaction bug” would conceal the useful difference.
Missing quests have a stated return condition
Quests accepted from the General Goods Trader could disappear immediately from the journal. The developer says an already accepted and vanished quest will become available again after the current quest cycle completes. The promise is tied to that cycle, not to an immediate restoration of the journal entry on the first login after updating.
That timing matters to anyone deciding whether to keep retrying the trader. The notice offers a specific condition to wait for, but does not announce a universal grant of completed quest rewards. Players should distinguish the return of an offer from credit for having finished it.
Collision fixes are not just cosmetic
At the Apex Research Facility, incorrect plant collision could let bears climb over the vegetation or make characters stand partly above the ground. Invisible collision inside the Zelena Milja disco could prevent shooting. Both affect the relationship between what players see and where the simulation thinks an obstacle exists.
Other fixes address chat placement, missing gas-pump shadows, a lantern flame clipping at higher fields of view and foliage around base-building elements. The patch does not turn those into a general promise that every Halloween-update problem is solved. Its useful achievement is narrower: fewer moments in which the rules, the visible world and the result of an action disagree.
