Fortnite Power Hours return tonight: the two starts and what changes

Freddy-themed starting equipment and more community Sprites define the short sessions. Permanent locker rewards are a different matter.

Fortnite's October 24 Power Hours put the useful part of a crossover directly into the opening moments of a match: everyone starts with Freddy's Animatronics and Finger Guns. Epic is also increasing appearances of the five community-designed Sprites, making these short sessions a better opportunity to encounter them than an ordinary evening on the island.

The first window runs from 18:00 to 20:00 UTC on October 24. A second begins at 01:00 UTC on October 25, which is still Saturday evening in North America. Those are the times in Epic's event announcement; they describe a temporary gameplay event, not a permanent change to the loot pool.

Start with a plan for the opening fight

Giving everyone the same unusual starting equipment changes the first decision after landing. The appeal is immediate access: you do not have to spend the event searching for its headline items before discovering how they fit into a fight. It also means an opponent can have those tools just as early. A landing strategy built around assuming another player is still unarmed deserves reconsideration.

This is a reason to choose a drop you understand, rather than treating the event as a guarantee of easier eliminations. Familiar escape routes and cover remain useful when the equipment is unfamiliar. Epic has announced the starting loadout, not a protection period or a different matchmaking standard.

More Sprites does not mean a guaranteed reward

The featured community creations are Onigiri, X-Ray, Pond, Dumpster Dive and Honey. Their variants also appear more frequently during Power Hours. Chests may contain 1-Up Tokens and Portable Extractors, but the announcement does not promise that every chest will supply one.

That distinction matters if your aim is progression rather than simply trying the event. A higher encounter frequency gives you more chances to make a choice; it does not remove the need to find the right item or survive long enough to use it. Nor does starting a match with themed equipment mean that you receive a permanent locker outfit.

The v42.40 update gives one useful example of what these companions can change. Honey adds a chance for bees to attack after ranged damage. It therefore complements an action you already perform, rather than replacing the fight with a guaranteed result. The same update introduced automatic replacement with a higher-rarity version of the same weapon when Auto Pick Up Weapons is enabled, a small inventory convenience worth checking before a busy session.

Fortnite's recent Nikki crossover showed how widely its partnerships can vary. This event's strongest invitation is more practical: two short windows to play with a different opening loadout and meet more of the community's creations. Arrive for the match conditions you want to try, rather than a permanent reward Epic has not promised.
