Diablo IV’s next patch lets Prime Evil Splinters stack to 99

Patch 3.2.4 is dated October 28. The inventory change creates room for choices without promising more drops or stronger powers.

Diablo IV’s next patch will let Prime Evil Splinters stack to 99, up from one. Blizzard has dated version 3.2.4, build 74043, for October 28 across all platforms. The notes are available now; the change is not a feature players should expect to find already working this weekend.

It is a small patch with an outsized practical consequence. A rare reward loses some of its appeal if collecting another copy immediately creates a storage problem. Increasing the limit lets a player accumulate a useful reserve instead of making the next drop an interruption.

More room is different from more power

The announcement changes how many Splinters can be held together. It does not announce a higher drop rate, stronger powers or permission to use multiple Prime Evil powers simultaneously. Those are separate parts of the game, and none follows automatically from a larger stack.

Blizzard’s season overview explains the underlying choice: a character bears one Prime Evil Soul Splinter at a time, with different paths tied to different activities and rewards. The inventory change gives players more room to retain options. It does not remove the choice of which path to pursue.

Consider a session in which a player wants to keep running the same activity with friends. A restrictive inventory can force an unrelated decision about what to keep or use. More capacity separates that bookkeeping from the social rhythm of the session. The benefit is fewer interruptions, even if the combat numbers remain identical.

Do not confuse the new limit with the earlier quest fix

The same patch-notes page still contains an important qualification from version 3.2.3. That update prevented a progression bug involving use of a Splinter before completing the seasonal questline, but Blizzard explicitly said it did not reset progress for characters already affected.

Its documented workaround involves completing the seasonal questline with another character in the same Normal/Hardcore and Normal/Solo-Self Found partition, unlocking the relevant powers for that partition. Players facing that specific problem should consult the developer’s instructions. The October 28 inventory announcement does not say that it repairs those existing quest states.

The distinction is easy to lose when several fixes concern the same item. A storage limit, an unlock condition and an already-broken quest are three different problems. Reading the build number next to a fix is more useful than assuming that every mention of Splinters describes the same change.

Italian players are covered by the all-platform announcement, but Blizzard has not supplied an exact Italian deployment hour in these notes. Until the patch arrives, the current limit remains the one that matters. Once it does, the welcome improvement is straightforward: finding another valuable item should leave more time to enjoy the run, and less time spent managing what the last run gave you.
