Xbox’s Halloween trials split the games into two access rules

Four games require an eligible Game Pass plan through November 1; Dead by Daylight has a separate console window through November 2.

Xbox’s Halloween Free Play Days have two different access rules. WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers, Darkwood, Spirittea and EVERSPACE 2 are available to Game Pass Ultimate, Premium and Essential members through November 1. Dead by Daylight has a separate console trial for all Xbox members, without those subscriptions, running through November 2.

The distinction matters before starting a large download. These are temporary play windows, not five games being given away permanently, and the whole selection does not become free to every account. Xbox’s October 29 announcement also explicitly includes both console and PC for Spirittea and EVERSPACE 2.

Choose the trial for the time you have

The lineup offers unusually different kinds of sessions. WUCHANG is a soulslike action RPG, while Darkwood builds its survival horror around daytime preparation and dangerous nights. Spirittea offers a town and bathhouse-management premise. EVERSPACE 2 is a single-player space shooter with exploration and equipment progression, rather than a multiplayer match queue.

That variety makes a weekend trial more useful as a test of a game’s central routine than as a race to finish it. With a demanding action game, the question may be whether its combat rhythm suits you. With a management game, it may be whether the recurring tasks remain enjoyable after the initial novelty. A limited window can answer those questions without revealing the entire story.

The EVERSPACE 2 product page identifies PC and Xbox Series X|S support. Its inclusion in a general Xbox promotion should not be mistaken for Xbox One compatibility. The platform listed for each individual game is more useful than the campaign’s umbrella branding.

Install through the eligible account

Xbox directs console users to the Store’s Subscriptions tab and the Free Play Days collection. On the website, signing in is necessary to see installation options associated with an eligible membership. The store page can otherwise emphasize the purchase price, which is a different route from activating the trial.

The announcement says achievements and Gamerscore earned during the event are retained when continuing with a purchase. It also advertises discounts, but warns that prices, percentages and title availability vary by region. A promotional discount should therefore be checked in the same market and edition in which the game would actually be bought.

A deadline is not a local closing hour

The published dates distinguish the November 1 group from Dead by Daylight’s November 2 end. The announcement does not provide a precise local cutoff for every territory. It would be misleading to convert those dates into a made-up midnight deadline or assume that downloading before the end grants indefinite access.

The sensible use of the offer is to pick the game whose central activity you are most uncertain about and give it enough uninterrupted time to judge. A trial is valuable when it removes a doubt about a purchase. Filling a download queue with five titles can leave that doubt untouched.
