Aloft and Conan Exiles Enhanced reach PS5 with very different survival pitches
Both target early 2027. Aloft brings its evolving sky-island adventure, while Conan’s free upgrade has specific ownership and expansion conditions.
Funcom is bringing Aloft and Conan Exiles Enhanced to PS5 in early 2027, but the two announcements offer different things to existing players. Aloft’s console debut is intended to include its full 1.0 experience and the PC Early Access updates. Conan’s announcement includes a free PS5 upgrade for existing PlayStation owners, while keeping Isle of Siptah a separate purchase.
The publisher’s PlayStation post does not provide exact release dates. That broad window should remain broad: neither game has a confirmed January day in the announcement, and a wishlist button is not a preorder delivery commitment.
Aloft arrives after its Early Access changes
Astrolabe’s Aloft is a cooperative survival sandbox built around floating islands, gliding and turning islands into skyships. The publisher says the PS5 release will include the updates introduced during PC Early Access and the 1.0 experience. It describes additions involving wildlife, puzzles, combat, glider customization and exploration.
That history matters because a console player is not necessarily receiving the same state of the game that first entered Early Access. The intended package includes subsequent development. At the same time, “complete vision” is the developer’s description, not an independent finding that every system is finished to a particular standard or that post-launch updates will stop.
The environmental premise gives the survival loop a particular direction: restoring ecosystems and caring for animals sit alongside construction and exploration. That distinguishes its stated tone from Conan’s harsher setting, without establishing that every challenge is gentle or that the two games suit exactly the same audience.
Conan’s upgrade is free; every expansion is not
For Conan Exiles, Funcom says existing PlayStation owners will receive the Enhanced PS5 version free. It also describes cross-buy between the PS4 and PS5 versions and says purchased Bazaar items and DLC will carry over. Those are ownership and entitlement commitments, which are more useful to an existing customer than a general promise of improved visuals.
Enhanced includes revised environments, characters, lighting and effects, plus a redesigned interface and performance and usability improvements. The announcement does not specify an independently measured frame rate or resolution, so “enhanced” should not be translated into an automatic 60 fps guarantee.
The Legacy of the Giant-Kings story arc is included at console launch. That content commitment can be stated without detailing its discoveries or outcomes. Isle of Siptah is explicitly separate, even though the update aims to make moving between the relevant experiences more convenient.
Choose by the play loop, then check the entitlement
The pairing is useful for readers because both are open-world survival games, yet the practical purchase questions differ. An Aloft newcomer needs the eventual release details and the features of the console version. A Conan owner first needs to understand what their existing licence and purchased content entitle them to receive.
The Culture desk will naturally group them under games, but the choice is more specific than genre. One asks the player to build a home among moving islands; the other brings an established survival world onto newer console hardware. The upgrade policy is valuable precisely because returning players should be able to assess that second option without mistaking already purchased content for something they must buy again.
