GTA VI release and pre-load times
The two consoles use different pre-load clocks; both unlock on November 19.

GTA VI is scheduled to unlock at midnight local time on 19 November 2026 on both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Pre-loading begins on 10 November, but the platforms do not use the same clock. Rockstar's regional timing notice is the specific reference for that distinction.
What that means for your preparation
On Xbox, translate the single GMT start into your own time zone. On PlayStation, the published start follows local midnight. Neither rule means that downloading the files lets you launch the game before release. Keep the pre-load window separate from the date at which the licence unlocks.
Rockstar lists up to 212 GB of available space, depending on the device. Treat that as installation planning rather than an exact network-download measurement: the amount transferred, the final installed footprint and temporary update space are different quantities. Use the installation guide before leaving an automatic download unattended.
Digital purchases and boxed codes
The boxed version contains a download code, with retail shipping and pickup expected from 12 November. That date is not early game access. If a code is delivered after the first day of pre-loading, the practical start is when you receive and redeem it. Rockstar's platform-and-edition FAQ is clearer on this point than a retailer's generic “physical” category.
The current console schedule is not a PC release date. Nor does it establish the timing of any future online product. The guide above describes the announced console game and its download window.
