iPhone Duo launches tomorrow. Italy’s walk-in stock is limited to selected stores

Apple has not named the Italian stores with walk-in supply. A display model, shopping appointment and reserved phone are different things.

iPhone Duo reaches its first customers on October 23, but a launch date is not a promise that every Apple Store has a phone to sell. Apple has told MacRumors that walk-in inventory will be limited, with stock at only certain Italian stores. It has not identified those locations. For anyone planning a trip tomorrow, that missing detail matters more than the colour of the queue barriers.

The statement obtained by MacRumors supersedes the simpler idea that all stores will either accept walk-ins or require reservations. The arrangements vary by country, and Italy has its own qualification. A display unit, a shopping appointment and a confirmed collection order are three different things.

Check the purchase route before making the journey

Apple says limited walk-in sales will be possible in markets including the US, UK and Germany. France is among the markets requiring a pickup reservation instead. Italy's provision is narrower than a nationwide guarantee: selected stores will have some stock. None of that establishes which capacity or finish will be available when a particular customer arrives.

The sensible checkpoint is the order itself. A product being listed for sale is not a reservation in your name, and a general appointment to speak to a specialist should not be treated as one. Check the collection or delivery information attached to the chosen configuration. If the store offers no confirmed pickup, plan around that uncertainty rather than a headline about global availability.

Italy has its own price, too

The Italian Apple Store lists the 256GB model at €2,369, with larger capacities priced separately. Do not substitute a German euro price or a converted US dollar figure when comparing an Italian order. Also separate the device price from a trade-in estimate or a carrier plan whose cost depends on a contract.

That distinction helps prevent scarcity from swallowing the buying decision. A scarce configuration is not automatically the right configuration. If the only unit available has substantially more storage than you need, the extra outlay remains real even when it saves a wait. Availability answers when you can obtain something; it does not answer whether that version is good value for your use.

The hardware launch is not the last software milestone

Apple's original introduction describes a 7.6-inch inner screen and 5.4-inch outer display, and places USB-C Apple Pencil support later in the year. The same announcement says the phone ships with iOS 27.1. Buyers should check the released software and regional feature list, rather than equating a forthcoming feature with something guaranteed on the first morning.

Our earlier iPhone coverage separates the product announcement from the practical limits of owning it. Tomorrow's immediate limit is simpler: before travelling to a store, find out whether you have a phone reserved or merely a chance to buy one. The journey is the same; the certainty is not.
